Duke Energy’s new PowerPair pilot program offers up to $9,000 in incentives and may revolutionize how North Carolina homeowners approach solar energy storage – but it’s only for a limited time. The PowerPair program was approved by the North Carolina Utility Commission (NCUC) on January 11, 2024 and offers a significant cash incentive to pair home solar installations with battery energy storage, enhancing the reliability and efficiency of residential solar power systems. This initiative is particularly exciting if you care about maximizing the benefits of your solar investment while contributing to a more resilient and sustainable energy grid.
In order to receive these one-time incentives, your qualifying PowerPair system must be installed by a Duke Energy Trade Ally and enrolled in the Residential Solar Choice Rider. REDGroup is an official Trade Ally and can help you take advantage of this program by contacting us today.
What is the Duke Energy PowerPair Rebate Program?
The PowerPair program has been designed to enhance homeowners’ ability to store excess energy generated by their solar panels during the day and use it during peak demand times or when the grid is down. This not only provides you with a backup power source but also reduces reliance upon the grid during peak hours when electricity is most expensive.
Participants in the pilot have two options: they can join the PowerPair pilot through either the Residential Solar Choice rider (RSC) or the Net Metering Bridge rider (NMB) and receive up to $9,000 as a one-time incentive. NMB customers will also need to sign up for the new Power Manager and EnergyWise Home Battery Control program, which offers extra monthly bill credits.
The program is a one-time incentive and so time is of the essence. REDGroup is a participating PowerPair Duke Energy Trade Ally, meaning we are a solar and battery installer that has been approved by Duke Energy.
